Chas Pfizer
looking for info on who to contact about a life ins. issued by Met. Life dated June 5 1951?
Employer thru which policy was issued, was Chas. Pfizer & Co., Inc.
A few questions:
I’m assuming that this was issued as a group policy?
Is the insured still employed there?
Or did it convert to an individual policy upon retirement?
If the insured is still employed there, I would recommend starting with the employer to see if they have changed carriers since then. If so, then the policy would be with the new carrier.
If the insured is retired and it converted to an individual policy, then call the MetLife Call Center 1-800-MetLife to see if they can locate anything under the insured’s name or SSN.
If the insured has retired (and did not elect to convert) or left the company for other reasons, then the coverage would have ended at time of their termination of employment.
If all else fails send a letter to the office of Rob Henrickson (200 Park Avenue New York, NY 10166), the letter will get routed to an area that will research and reply to you. You could also send a letter to your local state insurance department. They will send it to their contact at MetLife who will then start contacting several units with MetLife to see what can be found. They are required to respond to the state department typically within 15 days. The state will then respond to you – or they may ask MetLife to respond directly to you and just copy them, but again there will be a timeframe.
